Welcoming Derek Britton and Cameron Seay to the Governing Board

By | January 4, 2021
Open Mainframe Project is led with a combination of both organization members as well as individuals within the community. Just like all of the projects hosted at the Linux Foundation, there is a clear division between the business and technical governance.
The primary governance bodies include:
– The Governing Board, which is responsible for the fiduciary and overall business of the Open Mainframe Project, including budget, finances, legal, and overall strategy. It is composed of Open Mainframe Project Platinum members, elected representatives from the Silver and Academic member classes, and the TAC chairperson.
– The Marketing Committee, which leads the overall outreach efforts for Open Mainframe Project and manages its event strategy. It is composed of Open Mainframe Project Platinum members and an elected representative from all other classes of membership, and open to any organization members.
– The Technical Advisory Council (TAC) oversees all the technical initiatives of the Open Mainframe Project and manages the project lifecycle. It is composed of Open Mainframe Project Platinum members and a representative from each graduated project. All meetings and activities are open to anyone in the mainframe community – learn more at https://github.com/openmainframeproject/tac
The project annually holds elections for various representative seats. I am pleased to announce the results of the Open Mainframe Project 2021 member representative election.
Silver Member Governing Board representatives:
  • Len Santalucia, Vicom Infinity. Len has served on the Governing Board since 2015 and has been chairperson of the Governing Board for the entire time he has served on the Governing Board.
  • Derek Britton, Micro Focus. Micro Focus recently joined the Open Mainframe Project and Derek has been a leader in many of the COBOL efforts launched in 2020.
Academic Member Governing Board representatives:
  • Harry Williams, Marist College. Harry has served on the Governing Board since 2015.
  • Cameron Seay, East Carolina University. Cameron has been involved in the Open Mainframe Project since 2015 and is serving on the Governing Board for the first time.
Silver, Academic, and Associate Member Marketing Committee representative:
  • Donna Hudi, Phoenix Software International. Donna is starting her second year of serving on the Marketing Committee.
Congratulations to all elected representatives, with a special welcome to Derek and Cameron! You can learn more about each of the representatives elected below.
