Open source is in common use on the distributed side of business across all industries. On the mainframe side, however, it is still treated with skepticism. The mindset of most mainframe organizations is: “The open-source movement is the wild, wild West. Anybody can make changes to the code; there’s no governance, there’s no vetting, there’s no security. Why would we go there?”
