Like a majority of the technology industry, mainframe related jobs have seen a signifiant skills gap over the last several years. A big part of this gap can be blamed on the lack of education and training. More simple and quality training can quickly put new mainframe professionals – or even those transitioning from a different part of technology – on to the path of a fulfilling career in the industry.
Open Mainframe Project members have acknowledged that education and training is an obstacle for students and new recruitments, which is why several members banned together to create Mainframe Open Education. Launched in 2020, its mission is to bring new talent (of any age) together with experts and resources to educate and train the next generation of mainframers.
